このサイトの貴重な情報源の一つでもあった、The official Opeth forumが、なんと先週をもって閉鎖されてしまいました！
現在は、閲覧のみが可能なアーカイヴ・モードになっています。

Opeth公式サイトによると、このForumは2002年頃に開設されたそうですが、以来、世界中のOpethファンが集まり、彼らの音楽についてはもちろんのこと、それ以外の話題についても、非常に活発な議論が行われていました。
Mikeはかなり頻繁にこのForumをチェックしており、ときには自ら議論に参加するなどして、ファンと交流を図っていました。

しかし最近、いわゆる「荒らし」「釣り」などの行為が多く見られるようになり、そのたびにForumのモデレータやMike自らが注意を促したりしていたものの、ついにMikeの堪忍袋の緒が切れてしまい、今回の閉鎖に至ったというわけです。


以下、Forumの閉鎖に関するMikeの投稿です。

The amount of shit, rude posts and stuff I've seen here has escalated so much lately. We can't put our stamp of "approval" on this anymore. It's become a playground for immature kids trying to get a rise out of insulting people. We thought it'd be interesting to have a forum where Opeth fans could talk music. I too participated thinking some of you might appreciate that.

Somehow it didn't work out and what's left is just a mess to be honest. So we'll close it down by the end of this week I hope. To be honest we should have done this a long time ago.

For those who are dissapointed I'm sure a new un-official forum will be available somewhere, but that's about it.

Unappealing you say? Well, that's tough....

I think you'll be able to pull through though, right?

Thanks!
The feedback on us closing down this forum has been pretty big. People have asked us to reconsider, but we'll stick to our guns. We expect the forum to be shut down soon. Actually today, Friday 28th August was my idea of the last day. Maybe the time difference plays a little part here.

Anyways, we hold no grudge against you people with genuine interests in the band, but I do want you to know that if it wasn't for the "trolls" the forum would still be up and running. Not a case of letting them "win", for us it's just a forum that's been abused and have cast a negative light on our name, so we pull out.

It's a permanent decision, yet never say never. We might open it up again when we have a new album that needs some boosting.

As for now, thanks and (a internet) goodbye to you all. Maybe we'll meet some of you in person on the upcoming Prog nation tour. In the end, a face to face meeting with a person of flesh and blood is something I think we all value one hell of a lot more than tapping shit on a keyboard.

Not sure exactly when this is closing down, but this is my last post here and oddly enough my very first thread.
